Timex Pac-Man Watch & Joycon Drift Apology
NERD CAVE SHOW 20200630. AudioCraZ and Beard & Gary are in the studio… well kinda! Tonight was our first attempt trying to social distance via skype. Far more technical challenges and hurdles that we expected. As you can see from this weeks episode, we were still sorting them out during the show.
As a side note, we attempted to sort out the technical issues several days leading up to to tonight’s episode, and much of that was adjusting cameras, changing out microphone hardware, and of course the important lighting. Then came the day before the show and we had a few changes that had to be made. So, as in normal Nerd Cave Show style, we were still sorting out those changes minutes before the show. We didn’t even get Beard’s camera functional till 5 minutes before the show. That is why I was still correcting his camera in OBS during the live show. The show must go on!
Tonight we discuss:
Microsoft Launches Technical Training Initiative. Microsoft has announced that in order to help the economy and people after the pandemic is over, that currently unemployed people are going to be trained in digital jobs. They are launching an initiative to reduce exams from $100 or more down to $15.
Nintendo Apologizes for Joycon Drift. Nintendo recently released a statement ” … We are aware of recent reports that some Joy-Con controllers are not responding correctly. …” This statement comes after Nintendo is currently in a class action lawsuit surrounding the “alleged defects” of the Nintendo Switch Joycon.
Timex Pac-Man Digital Watch. Timex will soon be releasing the Timex T80 x PAC-MAN. At the time of writing this, it was due to be released on July 7, 2019 for $79.00. This is a Pac-Man themed stainless steel watch that comes in Silver, Black and Gold. This watch is commemorating both Pac-Man being released in 1980, and Timex’s first digital watch shortly after.
Archie Mcphee Pizza Candy Canes (Amazon)
This weeks Candy Challenge we brought to us by Beard & Gary’s wife, Mandy. I am not sure I ever want to have a candy cane again with a slight meat smell… Regardless, we thank you Mandi for bringing us this weeks candy challenge.
ASUS RT-N12 N300 WiFi Router (Amazon)
AudioCraZ chose the ASUS RT-N12 for tonight’s Cave Gem for several reasons. First reason is due to its low cost, which at the time of this episode, was at $30 on Amazon. A good steal given its features. Second was for all of the features you get for such a low cost router with current firmware and support. Great for small homes with low internet use, or for a simple firewall for basic server use. AudioCraZ current uses one for the Q2 Qpong server, as well as having several in businesses for internet access.
